South Charlotte Animal Hospital
Dr. Michael Herman, Veterinarian
We REALLY like pets. We mean honestly like pets (not just 'kind of' like pets) Even better...love pets.
Boarding Services
As much as you hate to leave your pet we are happy to take very good care of them while you're away! We provide boarding services to both dogs and cats, both of which are boarded indoors in air conditioned or heated space. You are welcome to bring your pets food to maintain continuity in their diet, however we can also provide their meals with our high quality, veterinary grade Hills diet. Your pets needs are being met by the same great staff you've met before and Dr. Herman is a phone call away should your pooch or kitty need him as well.
Boarding Policies
We require your pets to be current in their recommended vaccination schedule and be free of 'freeloaders' (fleas and the like!) If we spot these 'meanies' on your pet we will certainly take care of treatment pronto...at your expense.
For our canine companions we require:
* A physical exam by a veterinarian (Dr. Herman would be a great one!)
* Distempter-Hepatitis-Parainfluenza-Parvo Combination vaccine
* Rabies vaccines must be current!
* A negative fecal for intestinal parasites (yuck!)
* Bordetella Vaccine
* And we think a heartworm test is a great idea...but that one is up to you.
Rate is $23.00/night Non-clients - $28.00/night (boarding exam required for first-time boarding)
For our feline friends we require:
* A physical exam by a veterinarian (we're partial to Dr. Herman)
* Feline Distemper-Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis Combination Vaccine
* A negative fecal exam for intestinal parasites (ew!)
* Rabies vaccines must be current!
Rate is $20.00/night Non-clients - $25.00/night (boarding exam required for first-time boarding)
Also!
* We must charge an additional $5.00/night for 'special care' boarders (read: pets that unusually soil themselves or their boarding space and require extra 'attention'. Not all boarders are 'paw-painters' as we like to call them... but when they are, it's the extra time required to keep them in a clean space.)
* If non-emergency conditions are found during exams or during their boarding stay, we will treat your pet at your expense.
* We are not responsible for lost or damaged items left with your pet. (But we do our best to tuck things away if you've forgotten something!)
* Your pet must be picked up by 11:00 a.m. to allow for boarders coming in and needing space. If we do not have a pet booked for this space, they are welcome to stay with us for the remainder of the day...just let us know!
* Boarding for non-clients during holidays or especially busy boarding seasons may be put on a waiting list as priority is given to clients first.
If you haven't already met Peggy or had a tour of our boarding space, by all means come on in! We'd be happy to show you around and discuss your boarding needs at your convenience.
Frequently asked questions:
Will my pet come in contact with other pets or boarders?
No. We do everything we can to not have animals in our care 'cross paths'.
Can you bathe my pet while he/she is boarding?
We're happy to bathe your dog! The bathing charge is $31.00 (and includes a nail trim... talk about a spa day!) They'll feel refreshed and smell fresh too!
How much time are they outside?
Remember, we are a veterinary hospital with boarding. Not a boarding kennel with an on-call vet. Our staff respects that your friend needs a stretch and a fresh air and we are happy to provide that. We are unable to provide lengthy 'play times' per se. But our staff enjoys getting out for a stretch and fresh air too...so we do our best.
